What I would like to see in a future release of Matlab, is a "matlab path" management system whereby there is a default option to set a folder, say for example "work", such that all of its subfolders are automatically on the "matlab path" any time that such subfolders reside in the folder "work".

Change Folders on the Search Path For Current and Future Sessions. You can interactively add and remove folders, and change the order of folders on the search path, for the current MATLAB ® session and for future MATLAB sessions. When files with the same name appear in multiple folders on the search path, MATLAB uses the one found in the folder nearest to the top of the search path. Run restoredefaultpath; matlabrc if you are having problems with the search path and restoredefaultpath by itself does not correct the problem. After the problem seems to be resolved, run savepath. Start MATLAB again to be sure the problem does not reappear. See Also . addpath, path, pathdef, rmpath, savepath. Search Path in the MATLAB Desktop ...
I have a main folder which contains several sub folders, now I want to read text files from each subfolder, save the data into ".xlsx" of each subfolders data by its subfolder name. For example read data from subfolder1 and save the data as "subfolder1.xlsx", and subfolder2 data as "subfolder2.xlsx". Which means that anything in the same folder as init_my_app.m, or in subfolders, gets added to the path during initialization, but that path doesn't carry over to your next Matlab session. You could do a similar thing in function close_my_app using rmpath to remove the application folder hierarchy from the path as well, so it's only on the path while the application is running.
As of now Matlab takes too long to initialize. I am trying to remove all the paths and we have add path with subfolder but not an option to remove path with subfolders. Is there any way I can remove it? I have tried rmdir, rmpath (C:\..) but nothing seems to remove subfolder paths. Thank you for your time. Dependency Analysis Function and User Interaction with the Compilation Path addpath and rmpath in MATLAB. MATLAB ® Compiler™ uses the MATLAB search path to analyze dependencies. See addpath, rmpath, savepath for information on working with the search path.
Files and Folders that MATLAB Accesses Where Does MATLAB Look for Files?. When you do not specify a path to a file, MATLAB ® looks for the file in the current folder or on the search path. Functions in the current folder take precedence over functions with the same file name that reside anywhere on the search path.
You could merge all your directories into one big directory (ugly, but it gets the job done). You could merge all your subdirectories into a directory called "private" (case sensitive) which would not need to be added to the path. Why do I get an error updating legend in Matlab... addpath('directory') prepends the specified directory to the current MATLAB search path, that is, it adds them to the top of the path. Use the full pathname for directory . addpath ('dir','dir2','dir3' ...) prepends all the specified directories to the path. In the last article I wrote about managing your path in Matlab, I covered some of the functions that deal with the search path, including path, matlabroot, addpath, rmpath and genpath.. These functions provide a solid base for viewing, adding and removing directories from your search path. In this article, I will explain how to use several more functions that deal with your search path ...

There are a number of external toolboxes (in fieldtrip/external) which are irrelevant for most users, and even can cause some problems if they overlap with other (custom) toolboxes on your path. Built-in Function: rmpath (dir1, …) Remove dir1 , … from the current function search path. savepath saves the current MATLAB ® search path to an existing pathdef.m file in the current folder. If there is no pathdef.m file in the current folder, then savepath saves the search path to the first pathdef.m file on the current path. If there is no such file on the current path, then savepath saves the search path to the pathdef.m file that MATLAB located at startup.
This repository contains a number of different utility functions that are re-used in some of my MATLAB repositories here on GitHub. As such, the included functions might not be so existing on their own. :-) Hopefully other toolboxes published will be of greater relevance. - fordanic/matlab-utilities builddocsearchdb(folder) builds a searchable database, also referred to as a search index, from HTML files in the specified folder. The builddocsearchdb function creates a subfolder, helpsearch-v3, to contain the database files. The database enables MATLAB ® to search for content within the HTML files assuming the MATLAB version is the same version used to create the database.
addpath(folderName1,...,folderNameN) adds the specified folders to the top of the search path for the current MATLAB ® session. example addpath( folderName1,...,folderNameN , position ) adds the specified folders to the top or bottom of the search path, as specified by position . This MATLAB function returns a character vector containing a path name that includes all the folders and subfolders below matlabroot/toolbox, including empty subfolders.
addpath('directory') adds the specified directory to the top (also called front) of the current MATLAB search path. Use the full pathname for directory . addpath ('dir','dir2','dir3' ...) adds all the specified directories to the top of the path. I am using addpath to add specified folders to matlab path, but it removes the folders from the matlab path everytime the application closes. I want to add that particular folder permanently to matlab path, so that I don't have to add it again everytime i run the application. How can it be done??
I have downloaded a toolbox with many files in many subfolders (spatial-econometrics toolbox) for use on one particular project and I don't want to add it to the path because I don't think I'm going to make a habit of using it and I don't know if it's going to hide functions say in the stats toolbox. How do I access the functions within this toolbox? The problem I observed arises when you just load the whole d2d-Framework folder in your MATLAB path, including the Examples folder. If you then work on a project with same data file names as in any of the examples, arLoadData will load the data from the Examples folder, not from your project's Data folder!
